Program Choices Overview

AIS provides the opportunity for its students to graduate with an American program, the British (IGCSE and A-Levels) program, Advanced Placement Program or the International Baccalaureate Program. The following charts represent the program choices for AIS students.

Students who have completed the British Program can obtain the equivalency from the Ministry of Education only if they pass:

  • 5 IGCSE subjects (Grades A-E; excluding Arabic and Islamic Studies)

  • 2 IAS subjects (Grades A-D; Grades E and U are considered failing marks)

  • 1 IAL subject (Grades A-D; Grades E and U are considered failing marks)

Changing Programs and Campuses:

  • Students who have successfully completed Grade 8 American program and meet the criteria set by the school to join the IGCSE program may move to study in the British system.

  • Students who have successfully completed Grade 8 at Abu Dhabi City Campus and meet the criteria set by the school to join the American program may move to study at MBZ campus.

  • Students who have successfully completed Grade 8 at Abu Dhabi City Campus but do not meet the criteria set by the school to join the IGCSE program will be asked to move to study in the American program at MBZ campus.

  • Students who have completed Grade 10 in the British system and meet the criteria set by the school to join the IBDP program may move to study at MBZ campus.

  • Students are not permitted to move from American Curriculum to GCE British System in grades 11 and 12.
