Inspiring and empowering students to make a positive change in the world

At AIS, we believe that community service is an essential part of our student’s education. Through the AIS Act & Impact Community Service Program, our students have the opportunity to engage in a range of projects that foster compassion, tolerance, responsibility, integrity, and courage.

Whether it’s volunteering in a community initiative or organizing a fundraising event, our students learn about the challenges facing those around them and develop a sense of empathy and compassion for those in need.

Our Act & Impact Initiatives

Local community services

Our local community service projects focus on initiatives that address issues in the everyday lives of the students. Participating and volunteering in these services helps develop a sense of social responsibility and shows that even one person can make a difference.

Global service projects

Our global projects focus on issues such as education, healthcare, and sustainability in underprivileged areas around the world. Through partnerships with international non- profits and organizations, our students have the opportunity to engage in projects that address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Our CAS Trip to Prague, March 2023

In March 2023, we took 11 students from our International Baccalaureate Program to Prague for a CAS trip. CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) is a vital part of their students’ IB Program. Our intrepid travelers participated in the following experiences:

Urban farming
Local cooking classes
Cooking for the homeless
Street art walking tour and graffiti session

But while we had a full schedule of goal-oriented activities, we also made time for fun. Accompanied by supervisors and teachers from the school, our students visited the most beautiful sites in Prague, including Prague Castle, Old Town Square, and Charles Bridge.

We also sampled some of the most amazing local Czech dishes like the famous trdelnik (rolled pastries) filled with ice cream!

The days were filled with a variety of activities that let us experience several different aspects of life such as farming, physical fitness and critical thinking which opened up a plethora of paths I would like to take in the future. How can students participate?

Students at AIS are encouraged to perform acts of service voluntarily conducted at home, in school, or in the local or global community. They can log their community service in the Act & Impact Log, found in their Google Classroom and gather any evidence for each of their services. Be it individually or in groups, students can engage in many short and small community services, or they may choose to participate in a few or one large-scale initiative.

Examples of acts of service:

Collect and donate items to the needy
Help a parent with home chores consistently
Support people of determination
Engage in acts of kindness that bring people together
Help students succeed in their coursework
Volunteer or start up a waste collection initiative
Participate in the Global Social Leaders

Students who are deemed, through a careful review process, to have high levels of impact on their communities will be considered for the AIS Citizenship Award in their respective grade levels. Students will have to submit their logs after the Spring Break, and awards will be announced in early May.

The Act & Impact Community Service Program offers wonderful opportunities to make a difference and help those in need. We look forward to working together to create a better world for all.
