Curriculum

The school offers a US curriculum based on the Common Core Standards, the Next Generation Science Standards, as well as the UAE Ministry Curriculum for Arabic subjects. Curriculum standards are adapted to meet the needs of our students. The curriculum is enriched with courses in the Performing Arts, Visual Arts, French, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Physical & Health Education. It is comprehensively structured through a scope and sequence that provides effective continuity for students as they progress through their school years.

Central to our mission is creating learning opportunities for students to develop their character, nurture their interests and talents, and promote active and global citizenship. The co-curricular program offers learning experiences that complement, in many ways, what students are learning in their coursework. We offer a multitude of activities ranging from sports, the creative arts, to life skills and other academic-related clubs. The program is offered during school hours to allow all students to participate in an activity of their choice.

AIS provides the opportunity for its students to graduate with an American program, the British program, or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. In Grade 11, students can join the IB Diploma Program or Advanced Placement Program, or continue in regular High School program with the choice to select one of the following tracks: Engineering, Medicine & Health Sciences, Economics & Business, and Liberal Arts.

AIS also offers its students the opportunity to sit for both IGCSE, AS and A-Levels. These are based on the best practices of the United Kingdom and are internationally recognized enabling students to study at universities worldwide. Students sit for the IGCSE in grade 10 and for the AS and A-Levels in Grades 11 & 12.

The school successfully prepares high school students to pass external examinations and assessments, including AP, A-levels, IGCSE, IELTS, TOEFL, and SAT & SAT Subjects Tests, IB Diploma Programme, and other achievement tests.
