Extracurricular Activities

Extra–Curricular Activities & Clubs

AIS Extra-Curricular Program constitutes an integral component of the educational program and aims to develop and encourage student talents and interests, provide students the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom, and foster active and global citizenship.

Our Extra-Curricular Program Activities are updated every year to meet the needs and interests of students and promote their personal development. Below is a sample of Extra-Curricular Activities/Clubs that the school offers.

The Extra-Curricular Program runs through most of the school year starting from September to May, although some activities are condensed due to the weather conditions. These activities offered by the school are conducted by a licensed school staff according to his/her expertise or practice. The majority of these activities are free of charge.

Registration and places in the Extra-Curricular Program will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and places are limited. Many of the above activities are very popular and may not be available to all students, so make sure to have a second and third choice activity. Sign-up is done online via our school portal or via a sign-up form at the school administration.

These activities will take place during and after school on weekday and Saturday on school campus. You will be advised at the beginning of the school year of the schedule of these activities and which activity is applicable to each grade level. Enrolled students must arrive to the activity on time and must be collected promptly at the time the activity is assigned to end. These activities are subject to ADEK approval and comply with ADEK & OSH legislations.

In addition AIS offers in partnership with external providers additional activities. These are specialty clubs and paid activities, which enrich the school’s Extra-Curricular Program. Such activities include jiu-jitsu, Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Tae Bo, physical fitness, ballet, instrumental music, creative art, football, and basketball. Some of the mentioned activities are coming soon and under process.

AIS Sports Teams are run separately to the Extra-Curricular Program by the PE Department. Varsity Teams try- outs run at the beginning of the school year. Enrolled students will train at least once per week after school on weekday on school campus. AIS sports teams plays a major and active role in the Abu Dhabi schools community and across UAE through which tournaments and competitions are engaged and organized.
